This is a design I did for The Danish Road Directorate (Vejdirektoratet) in 2015. The app is the for the drivers who spread salt on the Danish roads during winter. The main functions are: the driver can start and stop the spreading routes he is assigned and enter salt consumption for the routes. These data will then enter Vejdirektoratets system called “Vinterman” which is the program for controlling all winter-related activities on the Danish roads.
The app is supposed to be a native app and thus, the design tries to meet both iOS and Android standards.
In 2014, The Danish Road Directorate’s Winter Traffic Department decided to develop an app that would help the drivers manage their salt spreading routes and activities. This app was meant as an interface between the software called ‘Vinterman’ and the drivers. Since there was not put much effort into the visual and user interface design, the existing app lacks good user experience and navigation. Thus I was given the assignment to make a design proposal that would make the app look better, but also optimize the overall user experience with the app. The existing app is very technical looking and had some confusing functional elements such as a navigation bar that acted as a status bar.
This app-design was created for Vejdirektoratet in the winter of 2015. The sketches, mock-ups, wireframes and final result is all created by me.
